Aged 17, Gui Malheiros successfully snatched 131 kg (291 lb) at The 2017 CrossFit Games. He is a strong, versatile and natural athlete. He is now 19 and ready to prove himself once again on an international stage.

#TBT 2015 @crossfitgames Speed Snatch Ladder. ________________________ Right before this I missed the lift and dropped this same barbell on my head, which slightly blurred my vision! After I got up, I knew I had to go for it again and their was no option. So I took a walk back to the start to chalk up (never thought about leaving the floor) on the walk back, which seemed like forever, the voices came. 😇Do it, you got it! 😈you can’t do it, your gonna hurt yourself! But it was clear I had to go for it! ______________ As I started to approach the bar more voices, “you got 4th whether you do it or not! You don’t make any money!” “You’re tired” “didn’t it feel heavy” “don’t get embarrassed again” etc. _____________ This is the final seconds before I go back to the bar & from here on it was CLEAR! I’m snatching this weight, and I said as I grabbed the bar “You are going for a MF ride” meaning once my hands are locked in there is no turning back! _______________ Shout out to who ever took this video, almost 4 years later it’s still in my phone. 2019 CROSSFIT OPEN

New for 2019, the CrossFit Games Open will be the single largest qualifier of athletes to the 2019 Reebok CrossFit Games. The top 20 men, 20 women and the fittest male and female in each country will receive an invite to the Games in Madison.

19.4 CrossFit Open Workout

THE OPEN: QUICK STATS

This five-week, five-workout competition is held in CrossFit affiliates around the world. Workouts are released online each Thursday, and athletes have until the following Monday to submit their scores. Anyone who’s at least 14 years old can sign up and join in the first stage of the CrossFit Games season.

  • In 2016, 324,000 athletes participated in the worldwide CrossFit Open—the first stage of competition. From there, 260 athletes—40 men, 40 women and 30 teams of 6—moved on to eight Regional events where the top five in each category would earn an invitation to the Games.
  • in 2017 there were more than 380,000 participants in the CrossFit Open.
  • In 2018, 429,157 athletes completed at least one workout from the CrossFit Open.
