Patrick Vellner

Two-time CrossFit Games athlete Patrick Vellner is a former junior elite gymnast in Canada. The East Canadian competed through 2016 Regionals with a torn bicep and still managed to reach a second place finish in “

Regional Nate“- a workout that destroyed the upper bodies of athletes around the world — and a first place finish in Event 5 — running, GHDs and deadlifts.

Unlike other Games athletes, Vellner’s path to the podium involved training just once a day for a couple hours, mostly joining group classes—and working on some additional strength and accessory work programmed by his coach Simon Belzile at CrossFit Plateau— all the while continuing to pursue full-time education to become a chiropractor.
